Who we are
Scantily Travelled is a small farm business run by Matthew Chavasse and Marco Xuereb at Yerrabi, 1095 Spring Range Rd, Springrange NSW 2618. This policy explains how we collect, use and store your personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through this website, call, text or email us, we may collect:
- your name, email address and phone number
- what your enquiry is about and anything you write in your message
- if you register your interest in farm visits or a product that isn't available yet, a note of what you'd like to hear about
- if you buy livestock from us, the delivery or pick-up details and the property records that livestock traceability rules require
We don't ask for sensitive information, and this website doesn't take payments.
How we use it
We use your details to reply to your enquiry, arrange orders and sales, and keep the records the law requires. If you register your interest in something that is coming soon, we'll contact you about that thing when it becomes available, and nothing else.
We don't send newsletters or marketing emails, and we won't add you to any list without asking first.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information to anyone. We share it only when we need to:
- transport operators or agents involved in a livestock sale, who get only what they need for that sale
- government livestock traceability systems, where the law requires it
- our accountant, for tax and record-keeping
- anyone else the law requires us to share it with
How we store it
Your details are kept in our email accounts and on our phones, which are protected by passwords. Enquiries sent through the website are emailed to us by SMTP2GO, the service that delivers the website's email; its own privacy policy covers how it handles the message on the way. The website itself is hosted on a server in Sydney.
We keep enquiries for as long as they're useful for replying and following up, and sales records for as long as Australian tax and livestock law requires (generally five to seven years). After that, we delete them.
This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The web server keeps standard access logs (the page requested, the time, the browser type and the network address) for up to 90 days, to keep the site secure and working. Nothing in them is used to identify you.
To keep spam out, the enquiry form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person is using the browser. Cloudflare sees basic browser details for that check only and doesn't use them to track you.
Our Instagram page is run by Instagram, and its own privacy policy applies when you visit it.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it where we aren't required to keep it. Call or email us and we'll sort it out within a couple of weeks.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first and we'll do our best to fix it. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
